The Hard 80 Distortion is inspired by the Distortion Plus circuit that can be heard in countless hard rock and metal albums of the 1980’s. This pedal uses the LM741 op amp so it keeps the same lo-fi tone. We also stay true to the 1980’s circuits by keeping the tantalum capacitors. We have modified the circuit by adding a toggle switch that allows you to select between modern silicon diode clipping and classic germanium diode clipping. Both diode sets in this pedal are though-hole format, allowing this pedal to be easily modified for custom tones. For more information, see the Hard 80 Distortion Effect Pedal Manual.
